Special Educational Needs and Disability

Our team at Newick Preschool are very experienced and passionate about supporting children with a range of differing additional needs. We make reasonable adjustments to our provision to accommodate additional needs where possible.

Our SENCO is Vix Corbett (Level 3 Early Years SENCO) and she has worked with and successfully supported many children of various ages both in the Early Years setting and at Primary School to access mainstream education.

Olivia Campbell is our Deputy SENCO who has completed the ESCC training and who has a track record of providing excellent support for children with additional needs at Newick Preschool.

Our LOCAL OFFER sets out what support and services are available for children with special educational needs and disabilities who attend Newick Preschool. We provide an environment in which all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), are supported to reach their full potential.

Our local offer sets out, in one place, what support and services are available for children with special educational needs and disabilities who attend our Nursery School.

If you are concerned that your child may have difficulties with learning, please ask to speak to your child’s Key Person and the Preschool Manager.

We also have two designated members of staff who fulfil the role of Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCO) and Deputy SENCO. Both are trained in provision and support for children with additional needs and attend regular hub meetings to continue professional development within this area.

We also work closely with outside agencies such as ISEND to ensure that individual needs are met to the best of our abilities.

Our Local Offer | Newick Preschool

“All the staff truly care about every individual child and they communicate clearly with us about how they are making adaptations to support our child.”

“We are so happy that we chose Newick Preschool. Our child has an EHCP and many settings we approached were not willing to support him or were inefficient in doing so. We tried 3 settings before we found Newick Preschool and we couldn’t be happier. They deploy the extra funding our son receives for an additional member of staff so that he has 1:1 support when required. They are all very experienced and kind and supportive.”

“The Manager and Key Worker communicate clearly with a clear plan of how they are supporting our child and what the intended outcomes are. They review with us regularly and involve us fully.”

Creating an inclusive and supporting environment where all children can thrive.

Whilst we do everything we can to accommodate children with additional needs, sometimes a specialist setting is required to meet specific individual needs. If this is the case we shall support families in liaising with external agencies to find a setting which is able to do this.
